What is NSEJS?
The National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) is India's official first step toward the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) — conducted annually by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) in collaboration with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).
Unlike single-subject Olympiads, NSEJS covers Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics together — testing conceptual clarity and scientific reasoning across all four, based on the Class 9–10 curriculum but pushed to a higher level.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be studying in Class 8, 9, or 10 as of the notified cutoff date
- Date of birth must fall within IAPT's officially notified 2-year window
- Must be residing/studying in India since the notified date (or enrolled in an Indian school system)
- Must not have completed, or be scheduled to complete, Class 10 boards before the cutoff
- Cannot appear for NSEA, NSEB, NSEC, or NSEP in the same year as NSEJS

Exam Pattern and Scoring
- Format: Multiple-choice questions (MCQs), offline
- Covers Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics in one paper

- Correct answer: +1 mark
